Lots of corosion and a mess around the front plug called the clean out plug in the parts book.  I got the bolt and packing/seal out fine.

Was wondering bout that item called a nut.  I got a few threads left in the head but it would be nice to get that refurbished.

Is the part called the nut replaceable and how does it come out and go back in that round hole?

thanx

Order the new plug assembly and you'll see what it's all about......you need to get a bolt attached to it and pull it out thru all the rust that's holding it in.

I did not know it came as an assembly.

Interesting that this plug doesn't exist on the D14.  I had previously thought that there was more commonality between the 149 and 160 heads...

had not realized it has been this long.  Norm found me the assembly and it is now installed.

I wonder what the engineer was thinking about when he decided to put that thing in there?

Never looked at this particular setup, but is this an access hole to clean the head after casting or something else entirely? Just curious.
