Your wireing should look something like this.. The KEY shuts off power to the ignition coil... There is a resistor or diode in the signal wire to #1 terminal on the alternator.. That keeps the ALTERNATOR from feeding power to the COIL when you turn the key off... .... Do you have a resistor or diode ? Somehow #1 terminal is connected directly to the coil... ............ Pull the two prong plug off the alternator, then start tractor, shut it off and see that it will DIE.

| It starts and runs perfectly then it will shut off just fine 3 or 4 times and then the next time it will keep running. When it keeps running it runs smoothly as if you never shut it off. |

Does it have really good compression? Could be possible it’s running like a diesel, on compression.... Just a thought, could be way off though.... |
