| Checking if anyone has ever used a 6060 on a round baler. My two neighbors who used to bale for me no longer do custom work . Most of the posts on other tractor forums say 65 HP enough power but tractor weight big issue My 6060 has FWA and I think it weighs around 7500 lbs (not counting 500 lb weights on front). Other option would be to bite the bullet and look for a 200 or 7000 for more hp |

We baled 25+ years with our AC180 / 185's on a vermeer 605C and later 605F baler. We're in the Loess hills of west central Iowa, no issue on power or weight. The 6060 is a little less HP but about the same weight, unless the FWA adds more. You may need to add weight to rears if it doesn't have some already. Our 18.4x 28 tires carry 1150 lbs fluid in each tire, according to local tireman. A 180 tractor w/ fluid about 7700 lbs. Neighbor uses a 6070 on a large NH Round Baler. I think it is a 5x5. It has the 18.4x28 tires so it would basically be the same dims as a 6060. It is 2wd. Pulling a round baler doing dry hay does not take tons of PTO HP. If it is taking tons of HP, you're tractor is bogging down, etc., slow down a little! We've been round baling hay with around 65 - 70 HP on a few different tractors for over 30 years. No PTO issues.

| I think you will have no problem handling a 4x5 Vermeer round baler behind your 6060 even on hills, specially if you just doing dry hay. The PTO horsepower requirement on most 4x5 balers is usually 45 PTO horsepower, so your AC 6060 should be good. |

You'll be fine. I pull a 504 signature with a NH Powerstar 75. Approximately 62 PTO hp. I baled 4x4s with a NH pulling it with a Ford 3930 FWD (45 PTO hp) on some very steep hillsides.

IF you aren't doing silage bales, IF you aren't using crop cutters, IF you aren't trying to schitt out a 1000 lb bale every 50 seconds, IF you don't drive like Mario Andretti on the hills, Imma bet you can make it work just fine! How much hay are you planning to make? IDK, maybe this thing packs super tight, but still, even that's adjustable? No?? |

I have a New Holland 848 chain baler, i use my 170 and my 6060 both run it just fine no issues at all. Like Doc said grab a lower gear, the 6060's got'em. |

I wouldn’t even dream of trying to bale silage with a 6060 I’m looking at around 50 to 75 bales a year If I’m doing balage I, would hire that out to a bigger setup but he’s a ways away and have to make it worth his while Appreciate all the tips
