Would like to know if year of manufacture can be determined from serial number for this machine.
Mine is 25L-18802, believe it was sold in New Zealand about 1980 by Cable-price

Cables sold quite a few HD11 series B crawlers in nz, and still the odd one around.
The very last Allis Chalmers one was 18798 in 1974. So yours at 18802 will be a Fiat Allis 11-B from early 1975.
my records only go to 1974. But from what i have read they were made up until 1977. And go to at least 19612 which is highest s/n ive heard of in USA.
One of my mates here in nz has 25L 19219 which would have to be one of the very last sold in NZ.
I do know that by 1978 Cables were advertising the Fiat Allis 14C and a few were sold to NZ Forest Service.
Cheers Merv

Thanks for that merv, about what I thought, I brought mine  from a man in Stratford taranaki who said it was a 1980 but it didn’t seem to add up as my father and I looked at that machine around 1985.

It was owned at that time by a tom scrobie used for logging in the waitanga’s, we thought it was too expensive so brought an 11b  in Rotorua.

The ironic thing is I brought the same machine nearly 40years later and paid about the same amount as it was worth then.

So almost have come full circle trying to relive the past with the old FA11B playing around on a mates bush block at Awakino.

Cheers Allan
