Hi everyone

I need to order a tap and dye set to clean up a few bolts and holes on my ED-40

Trouble is I’m not sure if the thread and don’t want to get the wrong size!

Anyone know if they are BSW or UNF or UNC?

Thanks 😊

My guess for that era would be UNC.

If you could obtain P/N's for the particular bolts from an ED-40 Parts Catalog, they could be compared to a North American built Allis.

we sent a LOT of equipment to England during WW II....... Due to that , they started converting a lot of manufacturing to UNC instead of British Standard.... "SOME" companies were slow to conform, buy many did......

I would  get a couple 3/8 and 1/2 inch bolts and "test fit" them in specific holes that you know are good, to confirm the size.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

also, wire brush the head and look at the markings... Many British bolts were marked by their manufacture as BW or UNC .... or manufacturer letters.

Thanks guys great reply’s here.

Not sure why I didn’t think this before but Iv just had a look through the literature and sure enough almost every bolt is shown as UNF or UNC.

Thanks for the help everyone 😊
