| So I have removed the instrument cluster on my D17 III and replaced all the gauges. Guess I didn't do a good enough job of photographing the all the back side wiring connections. Temp gauge is not reading. Is there a hot lead that needs to be connected to one of the terminals? Don't see this in any wiring diagram in the I & T manual. |

| You won't find the wiring diagram showing the temp gauge because it isn't electric. All D-17 tractors used a mechanical gauge with a mercury filled bulb. |

| Thanks for quick help on this. When I cut the lead on the old one i thought it was copper wire but I now see that it is a capillary tube. I don't think that I kinked this on the new one and I know that the bulb on the new one is in contact with the coolant so I must have a bad gauge right out of the box. Wanted to use a repro with the Allis Chalmers labeling but may have to resort to a higher quality aftermarket. |

AGCO gauge isn’t that much more expensive and it’s a good quality gauge. Most aftermarket gauges don’t always look original and there is nothing worse than a gauge that not only reads incorrectly but also looks incorrect. My D17 I recently purchased has a auto temperature gauge and I can’t wait to get rid of it for both of those reasons.
