Any Ford experts? Will the same AGCO 821 oil I get from TSC work in my Ford too? Aside from using same oil in the D15............it runs less than half the cost of oil from Ford / NH......and I need three buckets of the stuff to change it.

I'd think that it would, we ran the same oil in trans/hydr systems on AC tractors / Ford 5000, 9600 and TW20 / JI Case 1175, 1370 and 2590 with no issues. Check the label on the container it should list the fluids it is compatible to. ------------- AC 200, CAH, AC185D bareback, AC 180D bareback, D17 III, WF. D17 Blackbar grill, NF. D15 SFW. YES... we use the same GENERIC Hydraulic / Trans oil ( 821 spec) in our FORD 4600..... nothing magic in there... Good quality oil is fine. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Lists Ford 134D on the can.........just not sure what the standard for the 5610 is. It has a common sump......tranny and all hydraulics pull from the source.

FORD M2C134D ( also called 134D) is the " ford spec for tractors" ..........normally used in ALL FORD tractors from the 1970 -80-90 era.... maybe even the new ones ... i have not checked (NEW) them... ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

Any QUALITY or PREMIUM tractor fluid would list 20 or 30 SPECS that it meets on the back of the bucket...... Allis 821 and FORD 134B would be two of them..... If there is no SPEC including 20 different manufactures, then it is not QUALITY FLUID.... most of these specs are VERY SIMILAR. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

It sort of cracks me up a little bit really........Have more than 1 brand / era of tractor? Ever hook up an implement to two or more different tractors and use the hydraulics? Ever rent/ borrow an implement with hydraulics? Like Steve says, these specs are all very similar and very compatible.

YEP... ALLIS did not make oil... FORD did not make oil... JD did not make oil... Do you think they DEVELOPED a SPEC for their tractor... or do you think they COPIED a spec for an EXISTING OIL and put their own "NUMBER" on it... On a lot of parts you say they are "comparable" or "inter-changable".... In this case they are EXACTLY THE SAME. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

I think I have poured three different hydraulic oils this summer. The oil in the Ford now is some Ambra product from Ford / NH dealer. Has a darker red color. The TSC Premium........and hydraulic oil from Kubota for Kubota tractors. That is almost clear like a light vegetable oil. So a trip to the local Orschelen Farm and Home leaves one scratching his head. At least 5 or 6 different hydraulic oils.......and all manner of different standards......even for the same brand of oils. What sets one apart from the rest? What does the tractor or hydraulics system do that requires a different standard? On the hay monster, the hydraulics on that is a simple open system. A pump runs off the motor crankshaft and drives two hydraulic motors, a two way spool valve and power steering setup. That has a standard too, but is apparently pretty low. A compressible liquid.....that offers some lubrication and doesn't freeze.

I think some Oil companies will run test to prove their oil meets 30 standards.. Some might run only 10 standards .... it might STILL meet 30. I would NOT buy an oil that says " meets JD 20 or 303 spec " only... That is basically crap oil..... If you have 10 starndards listed, i would think it is pretty good oil... The more SPECS listed, the better.. And your right, a log splitter or a 50 year old hydraulic system that was designed for "OIL" , does not necessarily need all the "magic specs".... but to standardize on ONE oil, you should get the "better" stuff. .......... if its good enough for a 2000 year tractor, it should be good enough for anything built in 1960- 90 era. ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |
