Why did Allis use 26 inch tires on D-14??? Seems like they used 24" or 28" before...Mark

The model CA had 10 x 24 tires. The WD had 11 x 28's.  The D-14 had 12 x 26 rear tires. All of this info is from official Nebraska testing.   The WD tires had 120 square inches of foot print. The D-14 tires had 140 square inches of foot print.  Now, I wasn't there making decisions, but the D-14 technically replaced the WD and the D-17 replaced the WD-45 as I see it. The D-14 tires appear to perform as well as the WD tires and probably at lesser cost.

I agree with Mark. It would have been a lot easier and less confusing to use an existing wheel size . It would have been easier for the tire manufacturers too !
