Anybody familiar with the hydrostatic steering setup on a L2? I have a unit off of a L2 and I’m wanting to put it on a tractor, but the L2 unit is different than any other I’ve ever dealt with. It is made by Ross, and has a hand pump that is mounted to the steering wheel, and a remote valve (mounted back by the hydraulic valves on the combine) that has hoses that go to the steering cylinder. I like that the hand pump is compact and only requires 2 hoses, and I can mount the control valve anywhere, but what I don’t know is if it was a good system that worked well without problems. I don’t want to get it all rigged up only to find out it doesn’t work well and/or you can’t get parts to fix it. Surfing around the web I have found zero info on it, other than a diagram in AGCO parts books. |

| They worked just fine and were trouble-free. What is better about them over a 4-hose Char-Lynn orbitrol ?? I don't know. Maybe with only two hoses that cost less on a combine ?? |

I'd go with the cost factor. Had to replace a couple on the M3. That's a very long hose The steering does seem a bit sluggish tho, don't know if it is the nature of the beast or both of these here have a problem |

Just looking at the setup on the gleaner, the only advantage I see is only having to run 2 hoses all the way from the engine area to the cab, verses having to run 4 hoses all that way. It's a pretty good ways. I'm wanting to put this in a 1850 Oliver. The factory setup is shot and parts or new units are NLA. I've got a 4 hose Char-Lynn, but I like this setup just because there's not a lot of real estate to work with under the dash, and it would be much easier to just route 2 hoses and mount the valve in a more accessible location.
