I just got a gleaner C2 to harvest some fescue this year. I got it started and running. The problem I'm having is that I can start it at whatever throttle range and that is where it will run. I can throttle it back and it will slow down but when I throttle back up it won't speed up. I went back and checked the carb and the butterfly valve is sticking. I pulled the carb down and it is clean. If the engine isn't running the butterfly valve will move with the throttle. Any help or tips is greatly appreciated.

Butter fly has to be completely free. Any sticking or biding won't work. Also check over center spring on butter fly shaft.

We used to tell operators to put a quart of 2cycle oil in each fill of gas to keep throttle shaft lubed. MACK

It seemed to be free when I dropped the carb and checked but I'll check it again and put a little oil in the tank and on the valve. Thank you

Engine off. Throttle control lever wide open. The throttle butterfly should be forced fully open by the small coil spring on the inside end of the throttle shaft. I have had one spring break in 45 years, but it has to be there and functional or you will never get things to work correctly. Disconnect the control cable completely from the outside of the carb and verify this spring is doing what is intended. The control cable is for idling the engine completely down. When it is fully extended out the engine can throttle up and the governor is in total control.

Is that the spring in the governor lever on the throttle shaft that your talking about. It seems to be working like it should. How much tension should there be.

So I lubed up the governor linkage and tightened it a little bit now I need to check my rpms. Is there an easy way to check that since this doesn't have a tach in it. Also the carb is starting to sweat as it warms up.

Easy way is a shaft tach...but you have to have one. There are inexpensive digital ones online using stick on reflective tape. Your sweating carb in normal when humid.When you evaporate gas with a venturi it takes heat from somewhere.....
That spring is on throttle shaft. You have a limiting speed governor not variabl like a tractor. As Doc says it runs wide Open and you pull it back with cable. You will notice at part throttle you have no governor effect. If you pull a grade with a hopper full it will just pull down if you don't give it throttle.
