Hello,
As far as I can see, the UC has had two kinds of exaust. One trough the hood, and one beside the hood (like a U).
What was the reason for the difference? Thought it was when kerosine or gas, but see both in both types of exaust.

Thanks!

Ok, thanks. Could be indeed, ours is a early one and had the exaust through the hood indeed. But it has a cover on the ‘inlet’ (that’s were the higher serials have the exaust) why was that plate? Because it is on the inlet side of the manifold, it can’t be for an exaust or am I wrong?

Early style manifold - Has front and middle outlets - Pre 1937
Front for running gas (only the rear 2 cylinders ran past heat chamber - less heat)
Middle for Running Kerosene (all cylinders run past the heat chamber - more heat)
Swap the elbow and plate to change fuels

Late style manifold - Has reversible heat chamber - 1937 and up
There is an internal baffle which directs more or less heat to the intake depending on the orientation of the chamber.  There is a marking of K and G on the top and bottom of the chamber.  K right side up for Kerosene, G right side up for gas.  To change, remove the elbow, and the heat chamber, turn the heat chamber to reflect to desired fuel, and reinstall the chamber and elbow.
