Hi to all. When I disassembled my A/C-B engine, I found a hardened flat washer on the on the outboard side of the thrust bearing on the governor shaft. It is a distributor type ignition. The parts manual does not show one there. I can only guess that it was acting as a limiter for the thrust bearing on the governor. Does anyone in the forum know of any reason why someone would add a washer there? I was considering leaving it off. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Sorry no pictures. Thanks Steve (in ME.)

Probably someone that had never worked on a B Allis Chalmers before. The angle that is cut in the gears keeps it pushed rearward as the engine is running. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. | I have a "B" with a magneto that would occasionally jump time at idle or shut down. There was enough slop in the governor drive that allowed the magneto to disconnect. I used brass washers to stop the excessive travel and it runs fine. I had bought the tractor non-running and that is what turned out to be the issue. |
