My 175D CAV(DPA/Lucas) type 3248850 mechanical advance injector pump is leaking fuel from around the throttle shaft. How hard is to remove the top cover of the pump as I want to replace the seals on the throttle shaft. Actually I found a kit with a new throttle shaft included. Are there any precautions I need to take? I noticed that a metering screw passes through the top cover...??? I've consulted an IPB drawing and it kinda looks straight forward with just one stud holding the throttle and shut off shaft(s) cover. Should I be concerned about 'wear' where the throttle shaft goes through the cover? Other than the fuel leak, the pump seems to be working fine.
Thanks for the assist

Carefully remove the cover and take note of where all the linkages go...install new o-rings, reassemble and bleed the system. Gasket should be reusable, make sure you get it centered right. I have done a couple without problems. I went to a diesel shop and the guy new exactly what o-rings I needed, gave me some for free.
