Gotta put fresh oil in my trans and torque housing. It's an early 190xt. #7229. What should I be running? Can imagine what it's going to cost. Diesel went to 4.69 a gallon today. Gonna be expensive spring planting. Oh well, tell me what Yas think. Thanks, John

You need a hydraulic/transmission fluid that says it meets Allis Chalmers (or AGCO) Power Fluid 821 specs. It should say so on the side of the pail.

How about Chevron the 1000. I can get a small 30 gallon drum of that. Looks like Agco says it meets 821xt specs. Whatever that means.

If it meets AGCO 821 or 821XL or Permatran specs, it's good to go.   5 gallons in torque tube...….8 to 10 gallons in trans differential.    Final drives are 2 gallons each and normally are 80/90 wt gear oil, but really don't know why all the compartments couldn't use the same 821 oil.

Thank you, I was hoping you would respond. It says it meets 821xL specs so I'll go with it. Kinda nice because that's what's used in our other 4 tractors. Thanks for responses, John

any "QUALITY" oil will meet 20 different manufacturer specs... Most of them are very similar if not identical.... Allison C3, CAT TO2 , CASE HYTRANS.... and dozens of others.. They will ALL be listed on the back of the drum.

for example.......

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

If the jug or barrel is " generic hydraulic / trans  fluid".... and has NO SPEC on the label, then it is not QUALITY oil..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I don't know, but when they've had 821 since 1967/68, I'm sure there has been more than one supplier over all those fifty plus years. Current oil is Perma-Tran thru AGCO.
