Hello,

My WC is equiped with a sherman transmission. But, it doen't affect high or low speed. It only let the tractor drive, of stop.
On brianahart.com I only see a step up or step down versions from the sherman. Would mine be broke, or was this a third option maybe?

Thanks!

Didn't they have a version that allowed the PTO to run while stopped? Kind of like the WD hand clutch idea?

I don't think what you have is a Sherman transmission. Some WC's had a disconnect to stop the tractor and allow the PTO to keep running.
A local guy told me he used it for a Roto Baler, but I have also heard it was for a cultivator lift.
By the way, I have one if anyone is looking for one.

Yes, that's the one! Is it AC original and was it an option? Thanks

Mine has it so you can cultivate to the end of the row then lift then turn.

We had a styled WC that had the power lift.  Disconnected the movement of the tractor so the foot operated power lift would operate  when movement of tractor was stopped.  We used ours for cultivating corn.  Also worked well using the roto baler.  You were able to push lever down without using the clutch.  Starting the motion of the  tractor you needed to use clutch to bring lever up to shift back into motion.

“ Didn't they have a version that allowed the PTO to run while stopped?”

There was an aftermarket dry clutch that fit in where the disconnect went. I don’t think it got wide distribution.   But I have seen photos and a sales flyer for one.

The Allis WC disconnect was extremely popular, especially for cultivating.

Ours has the two speed Sherman. While parked and in gear, you slip the Sherman into neutral, then you can lift the cult while sitting still.  I am sure, but have never tried, but I think the PTO would still remain running because the PTO is ahead of the power lift and the Sherman two speed.

The Sudenga Auger Company built a hand clutch that went in where the power lift is. I would like to have the Sudenga hand clutch, Sherman two speed, Tractor Supply foot brakes, Char-Lynn power steering, and the AC arch wide front, all on a wartime WC.
