Does anyone know of what Stant or other generic radiator cap crosses to the Allis part number 70228545? I stopped in NAPA today and the pimple faced kid didn't even what I was talking about when I mentioned Allis Chalmers. I tried to get him to get out a paper book for cooling system parts but he said "we don't use paper parts books any more". I know it just may be the NAPA stores in my area, but they have become a worthless as most other places around. I can get anything I want at the Heavy Truck parts place, although sometimes a generic part number helps for tractor stuff. BTW The cap I'm looking for fits all the letter series with a pressurized system and D series as well. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Paul, I did a google search, allis chalmers d-15 radiator cap napa, was the term used. halfway or so down the page napa #703-1411 came up as fitting a D-14. Don't need a NAPA number as the kid punching the keyboard at Thurmont at least was able to tell me that store had nothing in stock less than 10PSI. He was quick to let me know that anything less would need to be ordered. I just got a deer in the headlights look when I told him I could order one myself. I've done some research, finding a few different numbers and will go to the truck parts place Tuesday and I'll bet there's something there. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. AGCO ?? Everyone sells a cap... Standard 4 psi cap fits all the 1940 -50 -60 year tractors..... Wal Mart, Ebay, Amazon... every Farm Store.

Apparently this guy from Maryland has issues ???? Our Agco dealer is WELL in line price -wise for filters/ non proprietary parts BTW, how do you know he's got a B that has a 4# cap ?? he NEVER gave a model

READ MY POST... It fits EVERYTHING from the 1940 - 1950 - 1960... and into the 1970s.... B, WD45, D14, D21, 7000 series !!

So NO ONE knows what a Stant or Gates # that would be for the 7PSI cap that was used on the later B, CAs and all the D series. The early tractors use the 4 PSI cap, which is not what I'm looking for I have a couple 4 PSI OEM caps here on my own personal parts department shelf. Yes, I can order one from any of the parts pimps or even Amazon, however I'm looking for something on the shelf locally. Aren't we supposed to buy local? Kinda hard to do when no place stocks anything. Those just adding to their post count are not doing anything constructive, and should just refill their 6pack. 💩 NO there are NO AGCO dealers here in Maryland. If I need anything AGCO it comes from Sandy Lake and generally is here in a few days. I found out the truck parts is going to be open for the Monday holiday, I'll bet they have one and will be able to match it just by looking at the old one. As for our local TSC store they certainly live up to Tought$hitCharlie The Shelves are Clear. Now if there was an AGRI-SUPPLY near here, we'd have something that could be called a "farm Store"

By application Gates shows their 31306 (7 psi) cap fits a D14.
If you use the AGCO Dealer locator, I believe you will find a number of various AGCO dealers in Maryland. Admittedly it doesn't show AC or AGCO Allis, but I believe most of the other AGCO brand dealers, such as Massey Ferguson, can order AC parts. At least the local MF dealer here can and has gotten parts for me.

Thanks Jim.ME that is the number I'm looking for, those ABC Stiner numbers that the parts pimps use go nowhere outside of the parts pimp realm. You also remined me that the MF dealer; D.W.OGG is an AGCO affiliate. Although I never think of them as they don't even stock Massey parts. Whenever I gone there looking for something MF, all I ever heard is "that's old. We don't stock parts for anything old". To which I reply "New tractors are not supposed to need repair parts, old tractors are." With that Gates number, I'm sure I'll find something on the shelf at Fleetpride.

You could try MM Weaver. Now, as for the modern Stant company. Go to their website. Useless for finding parts, no cross reference. But in the "about us" section they talk about being green, socially responsible and more. Not a clue that they have been making radiator caps and thermostats for over 100 years. |

Oh brother! I gotta' good laugh outta' the pimply kid behind the counter comment. Quite a few years back I had a rear axle bearing making noise in my 29' pickup hotrod. I had a 8" Maverick rear under it. So I bring the axle/bearing in Advanced Auto Parts for show n' tell, and there's that pimply faced kid behind the counter. I said to him I need an axle bearing for a 77 Maverick. I then got the deer in the headlights look. He says "I'm sorry sir, who made a Maverick"? I said wow son, yer' making me feel old. Just then an older gent bout' my age (probably the manager) came out from one of the aisles behind the kid and yell's "Ford made the Maverick'!!! "Ford made the Maverick!!!  The pimply faced kid looked at me, then looked at him and said "Hey, how am I supposed to know" "That was before my time!" I about fell over laughing. But ya know what? They had the bearing in stock. | Who is the manufacturer of the ABC numbered caps? I am thinking the ABC numbers are from an aftermarket supplier, used by the aftermarket vendors as shown in the list you posted. That ABC1396 doesn't cross in Gates and it would seem it should if it is an industry standard number. Just curious about their source. |

Those ABC or Stiner numbers aren't used by anyone outside of the aftermarket (China) tractor parts sellers AKA parts pimps. To get something through a car/truck parts place you need an industry standard part number such as Stant or Gates for examples. With the Gates number that Jim.ME gave the truck parts place had 4 on the shelf. After getting home I called the main NAPA store in Frederick and asked for a match to the Gates #31306 and as I guessed, NOTHING at any of the local (4) stores, would need to come from the regional wharehouse and added shipping. Thank you I said but I can get them from the truck parts here in town or order from just about anywhere without extra shipping. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. | they shouldn’t charge shipping. All Napa stores get freight from the warehouse Tuesday through Saturday morning. If they need to ship from a warehouse other than there primary then there may be freight but most warehouses have a shuttle to transfer in freight free. There is something fishy there! |
