Labor situation has me looking for a front mounted hay rake or a hay rake that you can hook a hay roller to. Thought maybe some of yall might be going to the machinery show and could get some info or contact information for me. I pull my roller with a FWA 8030 and I am sure that finding a 3pt hitch for it would be nearly impossible, but I am fairly handy with a welder and torch, if given enough time! Would greatly appreciate any info anybody could come up with. Thanks

I got curious about this post so did a quick search.  It appears there are two ways to handle this without a 3 pt hitch on the front.  Attach a v rake to a front loader or attach a v rake to the tractor frame where a loader would mount.  Assuming you don't have a loader on the 8030 (and would be expensive to add), you would have to go with the frame rail mount.  Seems like this setup has some kind of cable setup that raises and lowers the rake.  Not sure that is controlled from the cab.  This picture is from an old post in 2000 in Canada and the inventor said he was looking for a manufacturer so it doesn't really exist.  I only saw one other example but it was 3 pt mounted on the front and only 4 wheel setup.

You could weld up a frame to attach to a 3 pt Vrake and then weld wheels on the front like this guy did and create a a cable system raise and lower.

You could not go more than a 6 wheel rake to get down the road unless you created collapse system.  The problem I see is that if you are using a 12 wheel rake and baling half as many rows, this system might not save you a bunch of time or fuel.

If you make it, be sure and post some pictures.

Here is the ultimate setup and something you can buy.  Rake, Bale, Wrap all at once.  It might be out of budget though.  I didn't know they made a baler/wrapper combo unit.  $105,000 though.  That's a lot of stuff to break inside that baler too.

The Red tractor boys had a IH add from the 70's with a bar rake on the front of tractor. Even in the add, you could see hay sucked up on the radiator screen. It was guessed it had not been a real success as nobody had seen the rake in real life.

The bigger wheel rakes like pictured here has the rake farther from tractor. That was somewhat common in big alfalfa country in the west in the 80's.

I believe Farm Show magazine has had single wheel wheel rakes on the front of very small tractors just to turn wet/rained on hay over. Might hind a idea in there collection to help builds a front rake.

Ray54, I am guessing you are right.  If it was a good idea and didn't have any problems, we would see them manufactured and more of them.

That fendt video has 250,000+ probably of equipment making hay.  Takes a lot of hay to make that worth the investment.

I had never seen that Farm Show magazine before but would like to look at it more.
