Aquaphor. I don’t have tattoos, but my ex son in law would use that over his fresh tattoos! Once you have cracks it does not work fast, but if you do it every night it works great

Drink more water.
If the cracks are at the corners of the fingernails, rub Carmex into the cracks.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I have been milking my daughter's cows the past couple of weeks while she recovers from a minor surgery; I can vouch for the twice-daily application of Bag Balm being about the most effective treatment available for chapped hands.

Edit: If you can tolerate the smell Tongue

i've used Corn husker lotion, bag balm, vaseline, Blue Emu, and others, all work about the same, it's best to start using anything before the cracks appear. the vitamin D thing is right on! so is drinking more water. the Vaseline (for men)has a good smell to it.

Start with Neosporin, it kills the bacteria that live in the cracks. Vanacream worked as good as anything for me. Couldn't get past the smell of several of the potions, corn-huskers, bag balm. I fought this for years, including trips to a dermatologist that I really didn't like. Lots of prescription stuff, some of it VERY expensive. Clobetasol Propionate was the only one that made much difference. After going on a low-carb diet the problem has all but disappeared.

Being a former avid listener of Paul Harvey, I tried Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Creme and have used nothing else since.  At the very worst it took 3 days of 2 applications a day to get my hands repaired.  Like he said, if it will work for dry cracked hands of Norwegian fisherman, it'll do wonders for you.

Good Day

Well then.
I go to the dermatologist every 6 months because I have stage 3 melanoma. She is about 5'2" #125 about 40, blond and a nice smile and blue eyes.

She will ask if I have any concerns, yeah maybe, better check me over. She will say here is the gown, you know the drill. NOTHING goes unchecked. Imagining dipping out a septic take with a 5 gallon bucket. Gotta do what you have
to stay focused, although I have never scooped t**d water out before.

Anyway she gave me a prescription for splitting fingertips and knuckles. Good stuff.
Halobetasol Propionate

Still have 3-1/2  years to go before I am clear on the 5 year checkup then it's yearly.

Petroleum jelly works very well.

Add Udderly Smooth hand cream from Wally World to the list. Also you can have a lot of fun with the Corn Husker lotion and a 50cc syringe in the right situation. Evil Smile

Does not matter what you use, but you gotta keep putting the stuff on after every time you wash your hands ... ...if it is not on your hands it is not softening the skin, therefore the cracks...  that is my 2 cents...

When you wash the teet they get cracked.  The balm oil is for them not for humans.  someone just figured it out.

I wonder how latex gloves would work?

Aah, yes, but sometimes what's good for a beast is also good for man... IE: penicillin, ivermectin.  I don't think any of the ingredients below are of any concern to human life...

  • Petrolatum
  • Lanolin
  • Paraffin wax
  • 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate

We’ll discuss each of these Bag Balm ingredients in detail below so you’ll know exactly how they will affect your skin.

https://thedermreview.com/petrolatum/" rel="nofollow - Petrolatum , also known as petroleum jelly or Vaseline, is the highest concentration ingredient in Bag Balm. It’s an occlusive agent that reduces the rate of water loss through skin. Since petrolatum has a melting point that is close to body temperature, it softens upon application and forms a water-repellant film around the applied area. This film prevents evaporation of the skin’s natural moisture and increases skin hydration by causing buildup of water in the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of skin).

https://thedermreview.com/lanolin-cream/" rel="nofollow - Lanolin , also known as wool wax or wool grease, is a yellow wax secreted by the sebaceous (oil) glands of wool-bearing animals, such as sheep. In nature, lanolin’s role is to protect wool and skin from climate and the environment. It is thought that applying lanolin to human skin can help to protect against dry, chapped skin and other skin ailments. Lanolin is a long-chain waxy ester that contains cholesterol, and is actually very similar to the chemical structure of the oils produced by human skin. Due to its high lipid content, lanolin is occlusive, meaning it prevents the evaporation of water from the skin (transepidermal water loss). Ultimately, lanolin benefits the skin by keeping it moisturized and promoting healing.

Another Bag Balm ingredient is paraffin wax, a petroleum derivative, which is a soft colorless solid that consists of a mixture of hydrocarbon molecules. Paraffin wax is used in the Bag Balm formula to help bind the ingredients together.

The final Bag Balm ingredient is 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate, which has antiseptic properties and is used in the Bag Balm formulation as a preservative. Specifically, 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate is a metal chelating agent extracted from coal tar. It has the ability to inhibit the growth of imidazolidinyl urea microbes.
