I worked on this fellows Allis equipment. Last summer he bought an 801 tractor. Used it for awhile then the drive shaft for the oil pump broke. The pump locked up, twisted the shaft until it broke. Along with the rebuild I bought a new oil pump and a pump drive shaft from Steiner. The new shaft is a little shorter and comes with a pin that fits in the end of the shaft. dont know....does the pin ride against the mating shaft to keep the SHORT drive shaft from falling off ? ------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s. |

The pin comes uninstalled. The old shaft had a spring clip on one end to keep it in the oil pump so when you removed the distributor the shaft would not fall out. By the way the distributor drives the pump. Should have been the other way around. That would have saved the engine. ------------- http://lonsallischalmers.com |

I'd look in the service manual for the answer. ------------- If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

Call Steiner. They made it different, so they should be able to explain. Is the pump drive shaft really just 1/4" hex stock? Seems cheesy.

The pin is to hold in place , Steiner did not make it different its a aftermarket shaft that they sale. Same as ones I buy from Reliance .
