Bidding on a deutz allis 20' flex head, pretty sure it will fit my 1984 n6. Double checking though. So will it fit?

Learn from my mistake run the best head you can come close to affording and put an air bar on it. I ran a 520 for over 15 years I should have traded it the day 8000 series came out paid for one either owning it or not. Thought I died and went to heaven the first time I pushed my 8025 around.

Do you even farm yourself Freed? If memory serves me right your daddy was an STO and rented his farm out to someone else. I’m pretty sure I’ve been around a lot more of the air cooled wonders than you. Instead of posting a smart @ss reply maybe you should realize I have ran a lot more beans than you have. Nothing in harvest is more frustrating than poor feeding beans. We went from having to reverse the feeder house on the average of 3-4 times a field to twice a season by upgrading heads. Went from the average day in bean harvest have enough capacity with parking the semi, grain cart and straight truck in the field and being set for the day to either needing a second semi or a second person to haul beans to keep the combine going.

Does it have the pump for the reel on the right hand side. Also is the throat opening of set.

Yes it will fit as long as it has the pump on right side. 81 or 82 with the series 3 combines is when the feederhouse was updated. You should be good for any head 82 or newer for N/R series. I completely rebuilt my 320 this year and as long as the auger and reel is adjusted right it works as good as a newer series. Even worked in short double crops. One trick is to have good internals on combine and keep enough speed up on short beans to keep them feeding and you won't have much trouble. Make sure it's fully figured for a 39 in throat instead of the smaller one on R50's and such.

While I do not feel the same way as Victoryallis towards the Deutz engine, I will agree with him on the DeutzAllis flex head. Even in their day, they weren't the best head. I would look at putting a Deere 920F on instead. It might cost a little more up front, but will pay for itself with the additional beans in the bin, and less frustration.

Shoup. Stainless steel just like they need to be and perfect fit. Half price if not more than from Agco

Shantz Farm Equipment make one piece stainless feather sheets for the 3 series. I have had them on a couple heads they are the best for th 3 series I have found. They are not expensive.

I have to agree with Victory. You can get a Deere head but you still going to have shatter loss. I upgraded to an R62 this year and purchased and 8000-25 with crary air reel. The deer are starving after I leave the field. Only time I hit the reverser is when I started too early. I can’t speak to the deutz engines, but he’s right about the air bar or air reel.
