Got my G back together and running, but I am having trouble getting the engine to low idle.  I have to pull the governor lever back by hand.  I suspect it has to do with the throttle rod not being in line with the flat spot on the lever and the spring getting hung up.
Can the end of the rod be bent to solve this?  I put a new aftermarket rod support on the manifold stud - it did not have one when I bought it.  Also wondering if the rod is supposed to be right up against the flat spot on the governor rod at low idle.

Sorry if I am rambling.  I have been fighting this problem for quite some time!

I believe you are on the right track. In the picture, I don't see the rod guide.
The rod guide mounts to the aft manifold stud. I think it will only go on one way.
On my G, the rod guide hole on the manifold lines the rod up with the flat on the governor arm. Straight shot.
