Just bought a 2wd 8070,ps, this is my first 8000 series and my first ps. No power steering and tractor will barely pull itself. I already changed all filters including the two in the belly. Didn't seem to help, Just looking for any input before I dive into this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

No help here but I hope you didn't pay much for it with those "conditions".

Does other hydraulics work, 3pt, remotes, PTO, brakes, diff lock stay in? With range shift in nutural , can you hear PS Change as you go from R to 6 and back?                    MACK

3pt arms, pto, all work. You can feel it shift through every gear just acts like its slipping. Seems to slip worse in reverse for some reason. As for the power steering the wheel just spins free.

You either have a bad torque limiter slipping or two separate problems. Power steering circuit is totally separate from the transmission system.

I was hoping the torque limiter was the issue but wasn't sure with the power steering not working as well. I replaced the torque limiter in my 7040 a few years back and it really wasn't that bad. Are these pretty comparable to the 7000's to split?

Stall it out in any gear and see if 3pt will raise. If it don't, torque limiter problem. If it does, I would say you have gear pump and gerotator pump problem.             MACK

Stalled it in a couple different gears and 3pt arms still work. I guess that's good news... don't have to split it. Is the gear pump behind the right fuel tank?

Check oil on dip stick first

Where is the flow divider located?

The flow divider won't have anything to do with the transmission issue. It could cause poor steering. Perhaps your steering wheel splined shaft is stripped and not even turning the orbitrol. That can be easily checked. The line coming from the pump to supply oil to the orbitrol can also be taken loose to see if any oil is being supplied. It would be pretty rare for both the gear pump and geroter pump to fail at the same time. Does the transmission oil pressure light work and is it on when the tractor won't move?

Assuming the Power Shift trans is cleanly shifting thru all the 6 gears and reverse (easily tested with range trans in park) and you can shift the range transmission into gear and even grind the gears, then I think the ring gear bolts are all sheared off.

Finally had time to mess with tractor this afternoon and found that turning the steering wheel was not spinning at the orbitrol so not to worried about that at this point I'm sure something is stripped. Also found that with the range selector in park and shifting through the gears,1-3 where very faint almost couldn't hear a change. When I got to 4-6 though it seemed to pull on motor pretty hard. When I was checking the shifting yesterday it was rolling with range in low and seemed to shift through all fine just didn't pull well. I have ordered a manual that should be here Tuesday. I bought this tractor cheap enough I was planning on it being a winter project and putting some time and money into it. I appreciate all the responses.

Steering wheel orbitrol splines being worn out on an 8000 series is pretty common, especially when the foam dust seal is missing. Gears 1-2-3 don't make much change while 4-5-6 do. Pretty normal.
