So after I finished pressure washing my newly acquired H3 Ind dozer some yellow paint came off and exposed some orange paint on the block. Did AC paint over orange engines before sending to Industrial line or is this probably a motor swap?
Thanks

I don't believe they were orange and then painted yellow to go into the H3. Original H3 gas engines have a mechanical fuel pump on the side of the block, close to the oil filter. This was necessary for operating the bulldozer on steep inclines. If your engine does not have the mechanical fuel pump it is likely a swap engine from a tractor.

Well it does not have a mech fuel pump. There is an embossed flat spot but no pump or blocking plate. It does have a L27G stamped on that side and 149-1389 on the other. Best I can decipher is it’s a 149 engine and like you said probably from a tractor.
Thanks

You've got the right size engine being a 149 and in the event that you work in steep terrain you can always install an electric fuel pump, however, if your gas tank is full or close to full you'd likely never need help beyond gravity to supply the carb. Have fun with your H3, it's a fun toy.

What is the serial number of the crawler. The later stuff had a 160 in it. Both will work fine.

The serial is 3897 so I think it’s 1962.

That should be a 149 machine with oval muffler and dry air cleaner.
