much of a job changing the pto seal on a 7040?

Easy if you don't mind some oil in your face. Remove draw bar, drain oil , remove plate under PTO Housing, remove pin and nut from inner shaft then remove it, remove bolts behind outer shaft flange, and be ready to catch gears when outer shaft comes out.         MACK

If you search on the site there are some good pics and instructios posted. Cant remember the members name, did my 8050 last year. The pics really helped.

I highly recommend draining the oil, and dropping the cover the night before and let it drip. Won't keep all the oil off of you, but will help to keep it to a minimum.
