Have a old jack I'm trying to revive . Father in law bought it new from Sears probably about 50 years ago . Took me a minute to figure out all the bolts are metric . Should've seen the Made in Japan label sooner . I just figured as old as it was it would be standard . Glad I have some large Crescent wrenches . 104 heat index , nice to have a little shop with A/C . Thanks and stay cool !

I've had to keep my old standard wrenches as well.  Even though most everything I have is now metric I still have some old stuff that needs a repair now and then.

Been quite a few years ago , but I recall going to the parts store and asking for a socket between 1/2" and 9/16" . Guy told me I needed a 15 mm . Now everything's metric . Thanks !

The old Craftsman (Made in Japan) jacks are good.  I have one and it is my "go to" jack.  Mine is as old as yours, bought in about 1979.  It's been rebuilt once.  All the "new" (Made in China) ones are OK only until they fail - which they will.  They are CRAP and are welded together are not repairable (good for scrap only)...

My old Sears jack was made here in the USA.  What few bolts there are are SAE, not metric.  I assume you're talking about a floor jack?
