Do any of you guys have this system ? Any ideas of the longevity of this system in a REAL-LIFE/ work environment, NOT the CITIOT atmosphere ??

I haven’t seen one in person yet, but I imagine within a few short years, in the W Texas oilfields those tailgates will be a maintenance nightmare.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

I don't imagine it would last long here in the rust belt.  Seems to me it should come with a handicap sticker.  If you can't climb over the tailgate and then reach down and grab the handle and open it, I guess you're handicap and need one.

My first impressions when saw these was "Hmm", the next was "WHY?"  See little to no purpose in value especially at $4k+, local body man has replaced SEVERAL that had been damaged by owners(mainly kinked from towed devices) and went back with standard units at less than 1/4 cost.

OR
a mini stepladder so you can get TO it.......

hmm, maybe next year 'they'll' have air suspension, so you can LOWER the thuck to get stuff in and out ???

BIL was gonna get one on his new GMC pickup, til he found out it would be an extra $3800. he just carries a small step ladder with now. he fishes alot and puts his gear in the bed, when he stomps on the brakes, everything slides to the front of the box, that's why he has to get up in the box. he hasn't figgered out to get a poker stick with a hook on it to drag the stuff back to him.

There are two kinds of people in this world, those that have flatbeds,,, and those that wish they did.

Shameless I picked up a few old golf irons from my son who brought them back from Afganastan. That ain't spelled right. They work well for hooking things outta the back on a 6' 6" bed. They can be picked up for a couple of bucks each at flea mkts. I did use the 4" grinder and torch to modify one. I can unload a whole pickup load of honey and other things without crawling into the back.

I thought this would be a frequent flyer, but, for that kind of $$$, I'll wait for an escalator!

i also think that a tailgate is about the most abused part of a truck. see how long they last. i've seen alot of folks try to push over tree stumps with their tailgates! Tom...i agree with the flatbed for trucks! after i got one, i wondered how i ever got along without it! i'm looking for one now for my dually!

I've had the two stage tail gate since Oct 2019. It's the best invention ever for this old guy with a stiff knee. Very well built. Great for hooking up gooseneck trailers etc. Just don't drop the small gate with the main tailgate down and a big ball hitch in the receiver. I've gotten to the  point in life that I like the finer things so the tailgate was part of the package.

Ford has an optional built in ladder in the Super Duty tailgate. The used SD I bought has it. Honestly I hate it sucks trying to slide a pallet of seed over it. And no I don’t want a flatbed.

victory, is this a ladder, or are you talking about the ONE STEP that pulls out of the tail gate and drops down a foot ? ............ My F150 has the ONE STEP and is pretty handy for getting in and out sometimes... Mine dont stick UP where it would be in the way of loading.

Yes I’m afraid I’ll rip the grab handle off sliding pallets in.

Although I am a Ford guy, I agree with Calvin's statement "I've gotten to the  point in life that I like the finer things so the tailgate was part of the package."

I have never even seen one of GM's tailgates up close, but if Ford offered it, I would probably get it. I have worked hard my whole life and, now, I am in a position when I can afford some things that I enjoy. My truck is one of those !

A friend just got a new GMC with the fancy tailgate dealer told him you cant leave a hitch in the receiver and use it it will scratch or dent tailgate. They already had one customer trying to make a claim all PO'd his tailgate had a scratch.

I noticed that on my cousins truck. To that end, Iowa passed a law where hitch must be removed when not in use so the engineers likely relied on that.

What's with the Iowa law ????
Wonder if I don't have a bicycle on the carrier, the carrier HAS to be removed ??
Any idea WHY the 'no sleeve law' ??

The Iowa Governor probably smacked his knee on one in the dark one time. Actually probably a good law so you can change hitches when you need to. My nephew bought a used truck and that one is stuck so bad he tried chaining it to a tree and he can't pull it out with the truck.

Hitch is a good height to ram thru a car radiator in a rear end collision.
