| Will a K2 really handle a 4 row head? It’s both advertised in the brochure and stated in the operators manual that a 438 will work on it. Never seen a 4 row head on one just wondering if it would handle it weight wise capacity wise should be fine 40-50bu corn 75bu at tops in the bottoms. |

| It's a matter of thru-put or tons per hour. If the K-2 would handle 2 rows at 3 MPH, it will handle 4 rows at 1.5 MPH in the same field on the same day. Same thru-put. I never have seen one, but they were advertised to be able to do it. Extra rear weights and maybe a heavier ply drive tire with larger throat cylinders. Don't remember, cause we never sold one. Small grain tank would be a negative. |

| It’s a corn plus model and I believe it has the heavier lift cylinders because they are larger than what is on the straight K I have. It’s got bin extensions and power auger which are improvement over the K I’m currently running and still have a 4 row head from when we had a F2 and thought if it would fit I’d put it to use know some adjustments would be required for successful hookup. |

We sold several 4 rows on K2 78 and later diesel units. Correct as to bigger cyls and weights - ONE MANDATORY EXTRA - there is a tie bar that runs from one final drive to another with a 1" bolt to pull the finals together and prevent axle spread - again this is mandatory as the finals will break off the axle hogs w/o it. Been there done that with pre production model on hillsides. These were sold when 100 bu was a top yield. Today at 200 one will be emptying 3 times per acre.... ------------- When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money.. |

| My k2 with a 330 head will tip forward very easily without any extra weights. A 4 row would definitely require rear weight to be safe. |

Our F2 is pretty "light in the a$S with the 4/30 Black head. I couldn't imagine how light the steer wheels would be on a K2  .

The 1978 K2 offered 2 packages; 1. Grain(standard), 2. Corn/Soybean Special. The 1979-81 K2 offered 3 packages; 1. Grain(standard), 2. Corn/Soybean Special, 3. Corn Plus. The 78-81s, ALL had the newer final drives featuring wider gears, heavier bearings & drive shafts(axle) to provide more carrying capacities. So as Tbran mentioned a 78 could be equipped with a final drive tie bar. Gleaner literature list the tie bar as a “heavy duty load beam.” It is as Tbran said, 1” solid steel rod. It is located on the front side of combine axle frame. I believe one of its ends is threaded for adjustments? It ends are welded to each final drive. That said, the load beam is not installed on every Corn-Plus machine. Guessing dealerships probably installed them on some 330-338 cornhead machines?? But definitely for 430-438s. The K2 Corn Plus LITERATURE also list 2 1/4” heavy duty header lift cylinders( part # 71125747?). BUT, the K2/F2 PARTS BOOK list a 2 1/2” heavy duty header lift cylinder for K2 part# 71140803 ~ same as an F2 standard header lift cylinder. The K could of had 3 different header lift cylinders depending on it’s sn. sn 1001-5001 71154206,71133452. sn 5001-12201 71154206, sn 12202-up 71125747(heavy duty). |

| Rear steer axle on ALL K2s were built too light. It is prone to fatigue/break right steer wheel spindle from axle housing from just usual operations. So most attempts to add weight to it will immediately render problems. Before adding weight, consider beefing up steer axle with additional front & rear steel plating & an under slung steel gusset that ALL tie both steer spindles to these additional measures. To add weight, consider adding another fuel tank behind OEM fuel tank. Each fuel tank holds 52 gallons. Salvage yards in your area might have good extra fuel tanks? |
