I changed the fuel filter on the 7080 (square filter) How do I get the fuel from the tanks into the filter? The hand primer has pressure behind it and is very hard to pump? Does the injection pump create the suction to get the fuel from the tank in the the filter? It seems like the hand primmer only pushes fuel into the injection pump? Is this correct? Are there instructions for this somewhere? Diesel is not really my thing, just trying to gets Dads 7080 running again. The engine cranks but will not fire.

James, i am not that familiar with that particular setup, buy sometimes when you pump the primer you pressurize air into the filter and injection lines... Some tractors, you have to open the throttle, open the fuel shut off ( in the cab). then crack on injector line out of the pump or at the injector... as you pump you get air out. WHen you see a constant fuel flow, you tighten the line and it should start.

If it's been sitting, the plungers in the pump are very likely stuck. You might get it to start pumping if the fuel isn't too nasty. Fuel in the last 15 years has a very short shelf life.
