I have a D-15 Series 1.  Currently with no extra weights.  I'm looking at a Woods Model RM-306 finishing mower.  This attaches to the back of the 3 point and can be raised and lowered with the hydralic lift.  Should the ole girl be able to handle her ok?  It will just be used to mow around the buildings and such to keep everything trimmed up.  Many thanks in advance for any thoughts/current or past experiences!

YEP.... D15 is plenty big for a 306.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I've used a RM306 behind a CA with no problem, so behind a D15 will be a piece of cake.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I would think so, I pull a 6 ft finish mower with a CA, the hills pull me down but outside of that on flat ground I have no problems.

I have two 306’s on two CA’s and they eat grass. D-15 no problem. Let us see your setup when you get it going.

It's the color tractor my grandpa had!

You should have plenty of power and lift capacity with a D-15.  You might need some front-end weight though.  Won't know until you try and lift it and do some maneuvering.

It will be real easy to turn the steering wheel when the mower is off the ground but you may need the brakes to actually get the front end around. HP not a problem but as said you may want to add some front ballast somehow.

I think you need to worry more about if your RM-306 can handle a D15 than if the D15 can handle the mower as far as power.  Also I think lifting it and steering, without extra weight on the tractor, won't be an issue.

D-15 won’t even know its back there, our series II shocks me at how it handles big jobs for a tractor it’s size. I doubt that mower weighs over 400 lbs, our 60 gallon sprayer full of spray causes no issue for the 15.

You want have any problems. Even without weights. I have one on the back of my CA with no weights and it works great.
You will have more tractor than you have mower. You want even notice if the belt starts slipping in thick grass. I ran into that problem when I used It behind my WD45, so pay attention for it to start slipping if you try to mow taller grass than you should be. But my belt was old at the time, but it would never change the rpm of the old 45.
Great mowers, good luck.

So who makes a good finish mower? I ask, as I've been wanting to get one for the D15.

Is Woods still made? And/or can you get parts?

Neighbor drags around an older Bush Hog he picked up used. He uses it like the other type of Bush Hog.......he ground off some fescue and brush that was getting out of control. Could not believe he did it or that it worked as well as it did.

Have also seen a Land Pride that looked like it was pretty well made.

Also hear you want one that is rear discharge?
