Im restoring a C and trying to figure out the wiring. Its 6 volt positive ground with voltage regulator mounted on generator. It has a distributor and simple on/off ignition switch and on/of headlight switch. Thank You for any help!

A C never had a voltage regulator. It had a cut out relay, which is about 1/3 the size of most regulators. The 3 way light switch charged at low charge pushed in, by using a resistor in the switch. If you wanted a higher charge rate, you pull the switch out. The 'pulled out' positions bypassed the resistor to ground. One position turned the lights on, the other just went to high charge. I put a voltage regulator on cause im told there more reliable and also wouldnt need the 3 way switch. My plan was to simplify it all, not sure if i did or not! lol! This is my first tractor project so its all kinda new to me. Thank You for the info

some voltage regulators do not have a "L" terminal... it it connected inside to the "B" ( battery terminal) ... make sure your new regulators is grounded GOOD to the generator case / frame ground.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.

once you have everything connected, you might have to take a short jumper wire and TOUCH the "G" and "B" terminals of the regulator together to get a small SPARK. ( motor not running).. The regulator should then know what to do.. start up and see if the amp gauge works.
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.
