I've been working on my 8050 and noticed (not sure why I never thought about it before) that there is really no sound deadening material between the engine and the front of the cab. Had I been thinking I would have taken the steering motor, brake assembly, and starter relay off and put some dynamat under it all but I didn't. I did put some on the plate that screws on between the motor and dash but there's a decent gap under it yet. Has anyone put some foam in that cavity? Or spray foamed that part of the cab? I feel like I get a lot of engine noise. Was there anything in there from the factory?

Never thought about it. My 8070 is so much quieter that my WD45 and 220 (no cab) I think its wonderful. Can even listen to radio. You must be used to a modern tractor where you can barely hear the engine. Good luck with your adventure.

Open space between that tin plate and the cab firewall. 8000's were always a little louder than a 7000 series because of that and the cab sat forward 4 or 5 inches farther, making it closer to the noise. They were still as quiet as most of the competition of the day.

Not use to the modern tractor, the 8050 is one of my newer horses but it is a bit louder than the 7020.

And I am mainly wondering for curiosity sake if anything was in that cavity from the factory or of anyone had put something in there and felt it made a difference

Nothing from factory in that area. Could it be partly the extra cubes make bigger sound?

I took out the floor mat and put Dyanamat on the floor and everywhere between the engine and cab. Then replaced the floor mat. Did the same thing on my 8070, but it has a 8.3 and no muffler. Big difference between the 2, must be the lack of a muffler, but both are very nice!
Much better than the XTs and 200s with a Year-a Round cab!

The change to the AmBach M-100 injection pump made the 426 engine much louder and combine that with a cab that was moved forward and there was definitely more cab noise.

The beginning of injection is always at the same timing at any load. The end of injection is variable. The RoosaMasters are opposite. That's why the 8000's rattle and make more noise than the 7000 series even when they aren't working hard.

That's interesting about the lack of factory sound deadening material.  The 70xx series had it from the factory, wonder why the nixed it in the 8s?
