I climbed on a D10 today. Talk about uncomfortable to use. That steering wheel is huge, low, and near parallel to the ground. It forced me to be bowlegged to drive it as the fenders squeezed me into the seat area. And yes, the seat was bolted to the rear most position.

This is a p/s industrial D10, in case that changes the steering wheel specs.
Unless there is a way to raise the steering wheel height, drop the seat height, and/or reduce steering wheel diameter, the CA is better for us taller guys.

I have never been on a D12 Industrial so i dont know.... I have a couple "B" tractors and the steering wheel is TOO CLOSE to the chest for me ( just the opposite of your view).. I have taken the gear box off, taken out the steering shaft, cut out 6 inches and reweld it .. then cut the outer tube off 6 inches.. Works good for me... If this D12 IS factory, it could be extended upward  by adding a few inches.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

The Industrial D10 is so rare, it seems wrong to modify it to make it useable.

Imho: Extending the steering column would be the best fix.

My first guess is the throttle. because I can't see one anywhere eles that would make sense unless it has a foot throttle?

Would that be the throttle??  LOL!  I know.. I know.. wise-a$$!  LOL!  I wouldn't have any problem steering that Tractor. I'd probably have a problem getting up on it to steer it!  LOL!  Most folks know I'm built close to the ground, but that's mainly for speed..... Wink

I'm 6' and find the D10/12 easy enough to sit on and have room.  Yes the steering can be a little close. You guys with beerpacks would find it tight.

The CA is OK to sit on but getting on and off that thing can be a pain. The D series is so much better in that aspect.
The Industrial model has so much more going on with the loader frame and controls that is takes up a lot of the space you had.

The throttle / Governor Control Lever is located in the normal D-10 / D-12 location.

It is clearly visible in the last picture above, taken from the R/H side of the Steering Wheel.

You need to slide the picture to the left until the 2 Loader Hydraulic Levers are centered on your screen.

The Throttle Lever is located between the 2 Loader Levers.

I have two D-12s.  The shift in the operator's position from the CA to the D-10/12 certainly involved some compromises.  The main thing that bothers me is that you have to reach through the steering wheel to shift gears.  I was always taught not to reach through the steering wheel, just like you never wrap your thumb under the wheel.  Rough ground/holes can cause the wheel to move suddenly and break your arm/thumb.

The Ind D10 seems to have a shorter steering column than the ag D10.

Notice how the steering wheel rim is lower than the seat.

Andy, is it really shorter, or just a big thich padded seat on the Industrial ?  Lower the seat 3-4 inches and it might look the same... but leg room might be a problem with lower seat ? ............... i like raising the steering wheel / shaft 6 inches ??

But a D12 isn’t synchronized or power shift so your not shifting on the go so how will rough ground get your arm or thumb?

I have a lot of old advertising literature. Every picture I have of a series 3  D-10 or D-12 has the deluxe seat cushion 4 inches below the tops of the fenders. Also, the OEM deluxe cushion isn't as thick as that yellow tractor in the picture.

One of my fuel customers had a D10. It was the only one I was ever on. At 6'2" it was certainly uncomfortable. I had to move it to get to his fuel tank, only time I ever ran one. Only one I ever saw on a farm.

In the above picture the seat appears to be in the standing position (up and back) that raises you up under the steering wheel.  Those Deluxe seats have a driving position and a standing position. They can be a very nice tractor and I'd suggest getting the deep dish steering wheel like shown on the I-400 which is also the same as a 190 uses.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

I have a D-10  series III with the Hi/Lo ahead of the transmission. I like to partisapate in tractor drives/caravans.
Time is starting to catch with me.

It is actually a little smaller in diameter than the flat steering wheel. Same as a 170-180-200-7000 series.

The 170 -175 wheel measures 16 inches. The D10-12 measures 17 1/2 inches. The 170-175 wheel will  raise the rim about 5 inches. HTH Tracy
