I know this has been asked a thousand times but I want to hear it again. I have a D17 IV and need to know the proper way to polarize the generator. I Googled it and thought I better ask the pros. Thanks in advance!! Ryan

Ryan

Make yourself a short (12 inches should be enough) jumper wire, expose conductor at both ends, tractor not running, battery connected, generator connected to Voltage Regulator as per D17 wiring diagram

Go to the Voltage Regulator, and briefly strike the jumper between the BATT and GEN terminals on the Voltage regulator.  You should see a spark

Now you can start the tractor and the Generator is polarized

You should polarize very time you disconnect any of the components in the charging loop
