I just bought a D10 series 2 and it made me wander what the differences were to the series 3.   The series 2 has a lot of options, mine is an original 3 point hitch.
I also just purchased a complete cultivator set, even the cylinder and all attachments to the tractor off a series 3, not sure if it will work on mine or not, but they are in excellent shape and have been used every year up till this one to cultivate tobacco. He’s retiring and sold me the cultivators, but wouldn’t part with his series 3.
I saw all the different levers on it so it made me wander what all is really different, is there a big difference?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks doc, so that’s all the differences? We’re the hydraulics the same, just different levers?

I don't come from an area of any D-10/12 tractors. I think the S-3's had different hydraulic valves over an S-2 model. They also had the optional 8-speed transmission, unless later S-2's had it available.

Only s 3 had the range transmission.  IIRR, the hyd pump, mounted on the back, not side(different pump), too.

Also, the mid mount rockshaft for lifting front cultivators was exclusive to s 3...
