I am new, don’t kill me. I purchased a 1940 AC B that I think was restored in the past. I want to touch up a few places in the paint. Is there only one AC orange color or did it change over time.? Thanks

There are actually 3 different shades of orange Up until and including 1960 Persian orange #1 was used Starting in 1961 until 1977 Persian orange #2 was used In 1977 until the end Corporate orange was used

Welcome to the forum. As mentioned, there were 3 different factory orange colors over the years. Many tractors now don't have the correct shade for the year they were made, or have a unique shade of their own, including restored ones. Adding a picture to the post may help identify which you have, but your best bet may be to buy some color matched paint from a paint supplier.

Your tractor should have more of a Pumpkin color... If it is more ORANGE or RED, then the repaint might not be the original color..
------------- Like them all, but love the "B"s.

It depends on what shade of orange the person restored it with. Some have used orange paint from a hardware store. I personally have seen many different colors that people have said is Persian Orange 1. Best thing to do is take a small piece off the tractor and take it to a paint shop to get some paint blended to that color. Lots of places can put them in rattle cans too.

PPG Automotive Finishes Tractor and Implement Colors
Caution: This list was assembled using three different PPG sources plus input from others. There was no information concerning model or year, except as noted. Use this list at your own risk. There are no guarantees. I have only confirmed the AC early persian orange, sometimes referred to as "persian #1", as 60080. Most of the codes should be available in most, if not all, current PPG automotive paint chemistries, including the economy OMNI line. See your local PPG jobber for details. I strongly suggest first purchasing the smallest possible quantity in an attempt to verify the proper shade. Custom mixed colors are not returnable. Unfortunately, whenever a color proper name has multiple codes listed against it, I have no idea which one is appropriate for your application. If you are particular about shade, you may have to sample them all. If you wish to get information on the different chemistries available from PPG, including technical data sheets (detailed usage info) and material safety data sheets (MSDS=safety & health info), go to the PPG website. http://www.ppg.com/cr-refinish/phase1/frmHome.asp" rel="nofollow - http://www.ppg.com/cr-refinish/phase1/frmHome.asp

I would like to recommend NAPA paint. It's not show car quality, however it sprays really nice and is fairly affordable. The only complaint I have is that it started to peel on the block, however is lasted at least 5 years.
