Hi All, I thought I would post a few photos of a job I recently completed. The final drive fluid in my WF was looking pretty nasty and the seals were leaking, so I decided to replace the seals and change the fluid. You can see the tar leaking out in the first photo.
I removed the seal retainers and found out why. The old seals were made of cork, and could have been original for all I know. A previous owner had applied a generous coating of clear silicone caulking.

I cleaned up the final drive housings and the seal retainers.
The new seals are rubber and have some nice raised ridges to help keep the fluid in.
Greased up and ready to go back on.
The old manual calls for 250 weight gear oil. I understand that they still make it, but I was not able to source any in my area. I improvised by mixing some 85W-140 gear oil with some 0 grade grease.

I mixed them together and came up with some thick oil or some thin grease, depending on your point of view, and pumped it into the final drive housings.

Back together and ready to go.

Thanks for your nice picture presentation of the job you did. Where did you buy the new seal rings? Or a brand name  and part number for it?  Thanks for your response.

That is exactly the way I mixed the final drive "fluid" I suspect the WC's / WF's ? RC's leaked shortly after they were new.   Great pictures!!
