| The block heater on my 8070 doesn't seem to last as long as I think it should. I seem to have to replace it every couple years and really need every year. A new one will warm tractor up in an hour to start. After a year, it takes 4 hrs for it to start easily in very cold temps. Tractor stays in unheated shed. This is my loader tractor and need to load round bales for the cows once a week and push snow. I would like to put a tank heater heater on it, but don't see a port in the block i can take out for the inlet to a tank heater. Hard to see with loader on also. If it is complicated, I'll just put in the original type of heather with a new cord again. Heater still works on it, but like this weekend, I'll need to run it and will have to be plugged in for about 4 hrs to get it to run with it being below zero. It will start without being plugged in at about 30 degrees F. I just seem to have better luck with a tank heater on the other tractors. I am also using a heavy duty cord to plug in and unplug before I start it. I only plug it in when I need the use the tractor. So am I missing a plug somewhere on the block to take out and install a nipple. Thanks Greg |

Some tee in under (6" lower) the AC compressor. I think there is a block drain there? ------------- 405, 7000, 7050, 8050, 8070, L3, 2300 & 2600 disk |

| Thanks, I'll have to take the loader off and look. I'll have to take it off anyway to replace the heater that is on there. I can't get the side panels off with the loader on. Not a big deal to get loader off except it will be below zero this weekend and snowing. Maybe I can see with the hood still on. |

Are you unplugging before starting? if not, that is why you are going through heaters so quick. Where are you sourcing the new ones? ------------- Gleaner: the properly engineered and built combine. | The sudden change in water temp on the hot element shocks the element and can cause small fractures in the outer case shortening the life of the element. Thats what Kats told me when they denied 2 warranty claims |

re: Why unplug the heater before starting? cause your extension cord isn't 23 acres LONG ????? really, it's that simple.. consider ... it's still plugged in, you hop on, tractor starts easy(even in witchesteet weather...),animals are HUNGRY, got LOTS to do, you FORGET the heater's still plugged in and away you go....... ...so does the extension cord and possibly the heater rips out,cause the 2 tyraps didn't really SECURE the power cord to the tractor..... the trail of antifreeze 'reminds' you ...hmmm I was supposed to do something.......
