I know it is winter and low temps make them start hard. But my 200 is hard starting in warm temps. I have new cables from Agco and two new high  capacity batteries and even with jumper cables from my truck it requires several shots of either and several tries to get it fire off. Any ideas or thoughts ?

Any smoke coming out of the exhaust as you crank it?  If so, what color?
Could be low compression, could be a fuel delivery issue.  Have the air filter and fuel filter been replaced recently?  How is fuel flow to the pump?

In the winter time (or below 40 degrees) DEFINITELY plug it in or use the manifold heater!

No smoke. All filters were changed late summer. No block heater , why ?, I don't know.

No smoke while cranking indicates no fuel getting into the cylinders.  Pump might be getting weak.

My XT did the same thing. After checking fuel flow to the filter, then to the pump, off it went to Ed where he did a rebuild. Starts and runs great now.

How fast does it spin engine ? Could be bad starter plus inj. pump needs rebuilt and timing restarted.                MACK

Mack; not a fast spin. It's like having low charged batteries.

It takes about 800 RPMs to build enough heat to fire diesel.          MACK

My first guess is you have a Lucas brand starter and it is performing at half-speed. Not saying this is the whole problem, but the engine has to spin at least 200 RPM steady for the injection pump to even deliver fuel.

Like said above, it is cranking super slow, so my first move would be starter, I think the gear reduction for a 6080 fits and is readily available? Make it crank fast first, then worry about if it needs pump work, which it still might.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll start with the starter . If that's not the answer I'll send the injector pump to Ed. He rebuilt my injector on my 220. Will not be able to work on it tomorrow as I'm off to Weatherford, Tx tomorrow early AM. I'll be hauling a new Ford 450 pickup to a new customer . Be back in 3 days if all goes well and I'll get to work on the tractor then.
