How do you test the switch. Power on both sides. What makes it send power to the cylinder to reverse movement

My first guess is it would reverse polarity? I’m not familiar with that model but if it’s a electric lift that’s my best guess.

re: I purchased one from Amazon and does not enough zip

Ok, what are the specs for that one ?
'not enough zip' ? you mean it's too sloooooooow or won't lift ?

lifts but too slow is a motor RPM issue.
I've 'cheated' in the past, boosted the 12v to 24 for extra speed....

won't lift is a 'ft-lbs'  issue,
you need a greater lifting actuator.

usually 'they' trade off 'lift capacity ' for 'speed', and viceversa so you need to read the specs. You can get high ft-lbs at high speed for more  $$$ though.

as a rule of thumb, the greater the AMPS draw, the more it'll lift.

Not familiar with a 416, but I'm guessing the factory lift has a high force rating, and therefore relatively high amperage draw.  A common DPDT switch would not be able to handle the load, hence the solenoids or relays.

Is yours like the one being taken apart in this OLD thread?

or, what is wrong with the one you have?

does this help....

https://www.partstree.com/models/416-h-1600261-agco-lawn-tractor-16hp/electrical-group-implement-lift-1506i24-22/" rel="nofollow - https://www.partstree.com/models/416-h-1600261-agco-lawn-tractor-16hp/electrical-group-implement-lift-1506i24-22/

if it's it, simple DPDT center off 12vdc switch for the up-down. it 'reverses' power to the lift motor. Newer 'linear actuators' have built in 'limit switches' to prevent 'bind up'.
if replacing it, figure out what the implement weighs(say 200#) then buy unit>200ftlbs.

you need the solind s sothat you can use use big enought wires and have a duty cycle  that will move it fast and not burn up the switches my cf struck set up that way and also my jd 112
