I was looking through the issue with the 200, and noticed a pic in the article about all the Allis collections they visited.  In the pics of the Bergman collection, on page 16, it appears to be a 220 fwa with and 8000 series cab.  Has anyone else noticed this or are my eyes deceiving me?  Would anyone know anything about this collection, or any story about this tractor?

Seen it on Facebook a while back. They said it was a 8000 series with a 220 hood and grill.

Here is a pic I took a year around a year and a half ago at an auction south of Fergas Falls Mn. 220 with a early 7000 series cab. The owner was there, looked to be around 90. Said they did all the fab work themselves. Looked pretty cool!!

The only other thing the owner told me is they had the cab mounted on it three separate times. After the second attempt and subsequent changes, he said if it didn’t work after the the third try, they were going to quit the project. Good thing it worked, because it looks like it belongs on there. Also at that auction were a 200 with cab, 1 wd 45 diesel, a wd 45 gas, I believe one wd, and at least 3 gleaners, the largest being an M2. It was quite a line up, and rare to see in that area, considering that almost all the farms in that area are huge crop farms, with a lot bigger equipment.

It does look like it fits well.  Does anyone have more info on the 8000 series with the 220 tinwork?

No I wasn’t able to make it to the auction. We stopped the night before to check the machinery out. I wonder how much some of it brought, due to the fact that it didn’t seem to widely advertised, and the farm itself was actually a little off the beaten path to find.

Back in 1977 Dad bought his gasser 190XT..... That same year or early in 1978 he bought a 7000 series cab at auction were Allis Chalmers were dumping several Accousta cabs, I assume because the Accousta II cab replaced it. He said there were at least 6 cabs at that sale here in SE Minnesota and he heard there were others at other sales. Anyhow Dad mounted it to his 190XT. He didn't do a perfect job but it was mounted strong. Dad never had a shop so all his work was done outside. For Dad, since he didn't have a way to lift it high enough, he had the neighbor who had a 70 series Case tractor and big loader to lift it on so it was a once and done thing. Dad just used thresher machine belting to seal around the hood and such and unfortunately he had to move the fuel tank back a few inches. But it still worked pretty good and beat the D17 with heat houser and it didn't look too bad either.

Being Dad was a struggling farmer after loosing his 3 year old dairy barn and machine shed packed with hay to the rafters to fire in 1976 during a drought and since inflation was crazy at the time so he was way under insured because of it and rebuilding was expensive and plus the insurance company nickle and dimed most of his tools away. Dad just didn't have the money for a 7000 that he wanted so the 190XT gas with the Accousta cab had to do. Dad used old milker inflation tops stacked over a bolt for the cab to sit on his home made mounts for his isolator mounts. He would add a couple more each year for a few years until it quit settling. Sometimes you have to work with what you got.
