I bought this tractor after it’s sat for 6-8 years. The fuel tank was empty and the fuel  filters didn’t look ancient..but I replaced them all, removing the bleeder on the primary gives me good flow, after cranking I have fuel from the intermediate filter and as it is cranking there is fuel going back into the tank thru the return. I’ve given it a few whiffs of crack fluid and it will ignition knock but nothing more... I’ve had the starter rebuilt, it’s in a warm shop with a torpedo heater, and I removed the valve cover to make sure all valves are moving freely. I did loosen the center four injector lines at the injectors and nothing comes from there.... I hate to jump to removing the pump till I’ve tried everything.. so I’m hoping someone can tell me what I’m not going right....happy for any help & wisdom

If it's been sitting that long, and you just started trying to start it, you've likely already ruined the head in the pump. Those are very difficult to find parts for. Last one I had in here took me over a year to find parts for. My recommendation for any PSB pump equipped engine is to make sure it turns easy first, and everything is clean inside. It's not like you can just get a new pump lol!

what would you recommend at this point? Any other tests or steps? I’m only guessing when it last ran, and the motor certainly cranks over fine?

If it's not pumping fuel to the injectors out the loosened lines, it's a good bet the head is seized in the pump. Now you have to find a good one, that someone is not trying to gouge you on. Good luck! Those pumps are definitely a thorn in the side to us in the fuel injection world. Nobody makes the hard parts anymore. Pump time.

copied from Tom Foss' sight    http://allis01.com/" rel="nofollow - http://allis01.com/                                                                Here are the parts that go into the head with a pointer at the part that
usually breaks if you force a stuck pump to turn.

If one is unfortunate enough to have the plunger twist off,
that's the long shaft beside the head, then it is scrap.

I did have 1 come in that the key the pencil is pointing to had broke and saved the plunger. I was able to get it apart and saved it. Unfortunately when someone keeps cranking and pulling them trying to start them, it ends up snapping the plunger, long skinny piece in pic.
