The D-21 prototype had styling along the D Series lines. There were red spies and
green and yellow spies all around. The photo was put together on Photoshop from
an Allis-Chalmers movie posted by Austin Frederick. It looked to me like the D-21
was close to the specs of the production tractor.

Agreed. The D21 is one of the best looking tractors ever made IMO.

No kidding fellas,  the Allis Chalmers D21 style is great- they went to the Industrial Division for this - the 7000 series styling was out sorced to bring a different idea in - and they did- very nice style , except different - and folks of the time couldnt recognize - different

They were UGLY for sure. I was in shock! I was young and had no idea the quality of the tractor hidden inside.

That surprises me. I grew up on a green farm and I always thought the 7000 series looked good. Heck 1/2 the reason I bought my 7000 was the nostalgia from my childhood. I certainly didn't need another tractor, but hey, can you ever really have enough toys, err, tractors, I mean tractors.
