I watched a video on youtube of a 45 turbo by paul haug. Is he a member? Anybody know info on his build? What turbo did he use? Thanks

I know Keystone makes a kit.  $1500 and the reviews are pretty mixed.

I run my gas turbo on E85. It costs much less than racing gas, is readily available and the engine will run cooler. When I first was running racing gas I had to run ice water through the waterjacket of the turbo, now I use the bypass hose from the waterpump through the turbo and a tube welded to the inlet of the turbo to keep things from icing up.  Re-jetting the carburetor take a bit of trial and error, but an EGT gauge speeds up that process. Then I got a 2BBL that was already set up for E85.    Watch this...

Paul, what turbo are you using? How much boost? I am thinking of adding one to my UC , not looking for all out performance just enough to compensate for the 38 inch wheels. Maybe 20-30 hp.  Thanks

The turbo I used was from a 1.6L Subaru. The carburetor I have now is a 500CFM 2BBL Holley built for E85. I have left the Subaru boost control working as I have blown 1 head gasket in the past 20+ years I've been running this, that allows about 8 PSI, so about 1.5 atmospheres. with the tire size and speed I can run at given weights, I'm guessing around 100 HP at about 4500 RPM engine speed.
   I completely made my manifold from scratch. here is a picture of it when I was running the single barrel updraft. This would allow about 5 PSI boost and made over 60HP on the PTO and about 2500 engine RPM with only 155 CID.

Looks like I am on the right track. My engine is 318 CI, all stock. I am looking at a turbo for a 3 liter car. It is a kero engine so compression is 4.4 to 1 should be ideal for turbo. Drawing thru the carb, does this cause any problems? Also, are you feeding oil from the line going to the oil filter, or? Thanks so much for the info. 
I am amazed the ca holds that much hp, very impressive

You may or may not have problems with freeze up between the carburetor and turbo. It would be best to plumb in some hot water heat to this area. With the E85 it is a must.  The engine that I have turboed is a late D10 that has the full flow oil filter system. As those oil pumps don't really have all that much volume, I have also plumbed in a Power steering pump in parallel with the engine oil pump on the back of the cam. I have put in a lighter spring to control the pressure at about 50 PSI. I have also deepened the oil pan to hold about 3 gallons instead of the stock 1 gallon. This extra volume keeps the oil cooler, as the oil displaces a lot of heat from the turbo.

I had the same idea of running a auto ps pump independent of the engine. I wonder how the keystone kit does it?

Snickering... While that silly two-cylinder is making all that racket doing very little work, Paul's hair-dryer equipped CA is running past him dragging the sled, and is practically inaudible...

Like the guys on the river with their 'offshore' racers... all he racket, and that's all the faster you're going?? LOL
