Tractor would drive in reverse low but once u let off the clutch on 1 thru 4 it wanted to die. Read a old post on this forum where a person that goes by the handle of 'Dr. Allis' suggested to let it cool down and while not running shift several times from 1 thru 6th because the reverse plunger might be stuck. This worked. Tractor began to shift again, however there is still something wrong because I have driven this tractor for over 30 years. Please to all who have any experience with powershfift knowledge walk me through all the different mechanical steps to take to avoid splitting this ole girl. What worries me the most is I don't know of anyone in Tennessee who can work on allischalmers power shift transmissions. My first step was to change oil and filters/element

So, what I suggested worked that time?? That means there was a plunger stuck (down) in the Power Shift valve. This can be due to lack of oil and filter changes over the years. It can also be due to the plunger valve bores being rubbed on the top making them a little tight. A good cleaning of the Power Shift valve and dressing of these bores would solve that problem, along with an oil/filter change. What is it doing now ?? The same thing ??

Thank you so much for responding. That's what I had planned on doing this weekend 'changing oil and filters/element.' I will contact u on this forum after I accomplish this step and drive it. Q, would locking and unlocking the differential before I drive be of any help, and what about turning the pto on?

Thank you for your response. If the basics don't work I'm sure I will be in contact with you again. Thank you.

I would not waste the price of oil and filter. Get it in a shop for a rebuild. If a plunger stuck, there is damage to a clutch pack. Foreign material is all I have ever saw cause a plunger to stick. Foreign material usually comes from something coming apart.               MACK
