trying to remove this retaining collar. The second hole appears to have something down in it with a dimple in it. The set screw is loose and for the last two months been spraying PB blaster over the complete unit.. i'm not sure if this is a dummy hole or after you set the setscrew that you punch that second hole to help secure the collar on the shaft

Your going to want to torch it off. Probably the bearing too. The second hole is to rotate the collar in the direction of rotation to lock the bearing to the shaft

The second hole is to lock and unlock the bearing to the shaft before tightening the set screw. Use a punch and hammer to unlock it and it should come off.

Now that makes sense because on one side of the hole it looks like it's been hit with something. Like a punch to lock it on The shaft . Thanks for that helpful idea will try it .

You were exactly right. A punch and a hammer about four hits loosened up.

Can get collar to turn almost 1/4 turn loosely then hits a hard spot..
Just rusted up , more PB blaster, keep tapping it back and forth.

Loosen/remove set screw. As you turn the collar, note where the mid point is from left to right extremes. Once the collar is at mid point, pull it straight out. When you install the new bearing, put the lock ring on the bearing and use a punch to turn the collar and snug/tighten it on the bearing. Tighten the collar by turning in same direction of shaft rotation. To loosen collar, turn it in opposite direction of shaft rotation. Once you get your new bearing you'll be able to see better how they work. I usually end up torching the bearing off.

It’s a cam lock collar. In the center of the loose area it should slide off the end of the shaft.

I got a $100 bill that says the bearing is frozen to the shaft and your going to have to torch it off. Been there done that too many times. I don’t even try to loosen the set screw any more. 5 minutes with the torch and both bearing and lock collar are off.

Thats a simple one,, undo the carrier bolts -torch it off, clean it up, rub that shaft with fine sand paper, install the new bearing,, 1 hour job

Thanks GOT IT   Sandpapered the shaft . When collar was loose just took a little pinch bar on each side and slowly worked it off the shaft . PB blaster works miracles,and this machine been sitting outside for 20 years.

An air chisel rattling the race helps loosen things up. I like to file the burr from last setscrew down. Helps with removal and installation.
