Hi. I'm looking for helpful suggestions to fix my easy ride seat. It is too soft. The seat bottoms out with me just sitting on it. I figure that I can't be the only one with this problem.   No, I'm not too heavy (aka too fat) at 230 lbs. so a low cal diet isn't going to get there. I have the easy ride model 1601 on my AC Model B. It is the seat system with the small end of the coil spring up under the seat bucket and the short worthless good for nothing shock absorber on the front end near the seat bracket.

Here are my questions.
1. Can I replace the shock absorber with one that has a spring on it? Has anyone done this? Where can I find the right one?
2. Install a stiffer coil spring? Who has one? Where can I buy?
3. Add some sort of a coil spring knuckle between the coils or ???.

Thanks. Marko

You probably have a couple options...

One would be to go to the hardware store and buy a coil spring about 6 inches long that takes 70 pound or pressure or so to compress... lift the seat and put the NEW spring INSIDE the old coil spring so they work TOGETHER..

A second option would be to put a shock BEHIND the seat down to the frame.. That was one factory option for the seat in the beginning... BIG shock out back , or small shock in front.... but you need new brackets to mount..

YOUR SEAT BELOW...

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Put a spring from a motorcycle around the back shock, I weigh 220 and it worked well for me.  Easy Ride seats were available with three different springs to match the weight of the most common driver.

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of high explosives.
