Hello all, I looked at D17 a S4 (gas) this week with approximate 3300 hours. Owner wants to sell it with 4 bottom slat plow. Tractor sheet metal, wheels and tires are very good. I think plow is 80 series with trips on moldboards. Has snap coupler, also front end loader frame, no bucket. A friend of mine got the tractor running the next day and didn't notice any issues. I almost forgot its a 1966 model year. What should I look at before making a commitment? Owner deceased a while back and no one to ask about performance of tractor. What would be a fair offer for tractor and plow? She has not stated what her asking price is. It will need tune up and all fluids changed. TIA Gary

Make sure it don't jump out of any gears. Make sure it is a series 4. Will have a pump on right side in belt pulley hole and four or five control levers on right side. Price varies in different Areas. I suppose 4500 in this area if it was nice. MACK

| $3500-$4500.00 with the plow. Plow is worth $150.00 at most. Make sure you take the snap coupler bell apart and replace the c spring that is in there. I did not know there was a spring in there, had a plow come unhooked, the tung dug into the ground. The plow came over and landed on top of me. I still suffer from intense back pain and it happened over 40 years ago. |

| Series IV D17 is at the top of my list of all AC'S ever made. We purchased the local dealer's demonstrator in November of 1967, the year I graduated high school. Over 7000 hours with one engine overhaul and on it's second set of tires. Basically trouble free for over 50 years of use with normal maintenance. Used as our "big" tractor when new. Now the "go to" unit for any job not needing a larger unit. Handy size, very manuervible, great hydraulic system. If you're wanting an original collectible, the snap coupler hitch is fine. But if you are wanting to use every day find a salvage unit with factory (not aftermarket) 3-point to install. They bolt right up in place of the snap coupler set up in existing holes from the factory. I admit I'm a bit opinionated here but of all the tractors I've been involved with in my 70 plus years the Series IV D17 is my favorite. |

| That is what usually happens when a D-17 Series IV is involved. "While the thinking process is going on" someone else buys it. So, the last time one came my way, I said enough thinking. So I bought it on the spot. Finally found happiness. The D-17 Series IV is one of a kind. Awesome tractor for it's time! |

I bought 1 a month ago. Another project although it is complete except for a few covers. Looks handier than the Series II and the Wheatland that I am using now.
