It's 9:15, 12 minutes after the second plane struck the towers, and we all realized this wasn't an accident, and our world had been changed forever. I was at a new job I'd started in late August and didn't know many people yet. It left me feeling very alone being with people I didn't really know. It was a time where you wanted to be with your family and children. I remember the day well. I was a part time firefighter, so this day holds even more significance to me. It is probably the most significant day of the year for me. I post the events of the day at the time they happened on my FB page each year. Sep 12th was one of the best days, we were all united, one, and willing to help one another. It's a shame that feeling didn't last for most.

Yeah,,Greg,,,the world will never be quite the same,,,,,and that comment has been abused over and over by those that have never been able to accept our country and what it stands for,,,,First, it was bin ladin and now it is the ultra liberals,,, What is so difficult to comprehend is that daily,,,Many, many people from all over the world place their very lives in jeapordy just to come to this country to enjoy it's many freedoms and way of government,,,,the very SAME freedoms and form of government that the liberal dems are trying to tear down. No man or form of government is perfect but in those days after 9/11, we did prove to the world that we CAN work as ONE in order to save our country and defend it against ALL.
OK,,I'm done.

I was . . . about 60 feet from where I am right now. What a weird feeling that was.

I was an apprentice in a mold shop. I have to say at 19 it certainly didn't have the same impact it would now. I guess I didn't really understand it until I got home and watched it on the news. Then, as I did several times as a stupid kid, I just kinda blew it off. I regret that now. Wish I had known better then

I was in my shop. I thought my customer was telling a joke at first. Then 5 minutes later it was breaking news on the radio. Amazing the way people united. All most 20 years later its back to everyone for themselves and going to hell in a hurry.

I was at work. A couple of us were in another guys office. Somebody came in and told us. We went in the conference room in time to see the second plane. I thought someone had made a fake film at first, it was so surreal.
Indeed a sad day!

On a job in Paris Arkansas. Staying at a camp ground and working nights. Went to town for work and it was nuts. No gas to be had. The one thing I did right in life was fill up with diesel the night before. They sent us home. Found a hole in the wall to refuel on the way home.

I was in my car on the way to a week retreat (a spiritual one)... it got canceled but since I was in my car they did not connect with me. (I had no cell phone) SO I got to meditate the week on what had happened, kind of a private retreat. and praying for our nation.

I was working second shift and just woke up, had put the news on at about 9:00. Talking to myself that there was only trash on the news, then the first plane had just hit the tower. At first the news acted like it was a mishap until the second plane hit. I called my father at the farm and we grabbed all ammunition that we had available. They had just announced a plane was heading toward Camp David (just a few miles from me),then changed and said Fort Detrick and that one had already hit the pentagon. I was standing outside when the military flew over heading toward Somerset Pa. It was a very surreal moment in time. In a few minutes, that plane was grounded. President Bush came on and gave one of his most humble speeches and the whole Country stood behind him. The country was united!

911 started early that morning for me... Had been outside for a little while and it was so still and eerie, in fact I dropped to my knees and made a prayer for this nation and went back in and dropped off to sleep and dreamt about enemies attacking these lands and laid it to burnt wastelands where you could see into the horizon. When I went to the kitchen, mom was sitting at the table watching the TV and said an airplane just flew into one of the twin towers and I said to her that 'It has begun'... the attacks on the US from our enemies that hate us. We had breakfast and I went into town where I helped at a peat processing plant and it was quiet around there, some small talk but they all seemed like they were in shock. Told them, 'lets get back to work...' Sure was quiet in the skies with no planes flying.

I was waking up my wife had the TV come on at 5.30. She liked to leave home before 6.30 to be at her school about 7.They started talking about a accident of a plane flying into the tower 1. Was about to turn TV off and listen to local news on the radio. Had both on and saw on TV the live footage of the second plane hitting tower 2.
She went on to school as she figured even if school was canceled parents would be dumping kids anyway. School was not canceled but most parents had no idea, even though we are 3 hours behind NY.

Was on my way to Fargo for Big Iron Farm show. I was about 50 miles from home, the wife was working nights at that time so she was sleeping. I called and got her up, told her what was going on and should I come home, decided to keep going but when I go to the show they had tv set up all over to watch the coverage.

I was working for Roto-Rooter at the time and walked into my bosses house that morning to see the second plane crash into the towers . Had several calls to run and could not watch news on TV . Remember every service call like it was yesterday . The customers did not know until we told them . Turn on your TV. Which channel they would ask . Any channel is what I would tell them . Watched the towers fall at my third call . Have worked for those people several times since . We talk about it every time . I can't remember the day after or before , but I will never forget that day .

Was at work in the technical inspection shop at the Army Aviation Support Facility when the news came over the tv. We all gathered in the break room and watched the second plane hit and then the towers go down. We were om Threatcon Red for the rest of the day. When we were sent home we were told not to stay by the phone and be ready to come in on short notice. It was good to see the country come together as one and to see the support for our military. I can't even imagine what was going through the minds of some of our American fighter pilots when they were ordered to take down any more hijacked aircraft by any means necessary. Some were flying unarmed fighters and were prepared to sacrifice their own lives to do this.

It's a friend of mine's 30th birthday today. She is in PA working on helicopters, the same thing she had done in the Army for 6 years. Nineteen years ago she turned 11. We were at her mom's house that afternoon to celebrate. It was an awful somber birthday party for a nice 11 year old. 9/11 could be one of the reasons she joined the army.

Wrenching listening to the radio and heard about it. KY102 listening to Max Floyd. Coworker lived a few blocks away and went home and got a TV and we put it on my toolbox. Another coworker was in Arizona with his young daughter visiting his folks. He was having a hard time getting back because of the gas issue. He saw a few fights in gas lines cause people were starting to loose there chit. Looking outside and seeing the plane contrails making u turns and just not seeing any planes for a long time.
I remember just getting started in my work and hearing about the space shuttle Challenger exploding too.

I was at work. My desk was in the back by the coffee machine. One of the ladies came back and mentioned an airplane had hit the WTC. Sounded goofy.....like a really bad navigation error. Not likely, but possible. A few minutes later, came back to say a 2nd plane had hit. That wasn't any error....that was on purpose.
Oldest kid had just graduated Marine Corps boot camp and had returned to weapons school and was at Camp Pendleton. Brother in law was working in the Pentagon and had been standing in the spot they hit earlier in the day. He left the building and walked home.
Think back now to all the harm that small group of fanatics have caused the world. All the damage, deaths and destruction they caused. Worry that maybe the same is on the horizon in this country if violence being caused by a small group of zealots isn't tamped down.

Dad and I were on our way to Husker Harvest Days. Wife called to tell us about the first one, figured it was an accident. Did not turn the radio on, kept going. Wife calls to tell us of the second plane. Kept going, but turned the radio on. The show grounds were nearly abandoned! Mostly workers, very few lookers! Everyone had a TV on. My friend had a 12 row Kinze planter that sounded pretty cool when in transport mode-had never seen it done. Asked the Kinze guy to put it in transport mode for us-he was more than happy too as he had nothing to do! Very gloom and doom all day, even going home was not sure what to expect once home. Did notice a gas station a mile away from my house was charging $4.999 that evening! That station closed up real soon after-I know I vowed to never go back as that seemed like gouging. That spot is now a strip mall! Sad day for sure!
