There are engine weights on my 1940 Allis Chalmers B.  The first picture show the peg at the front end sticks into a hole in the front of the weight.  Does anyone know if these pegs were put on at the factory as an option or installed when the weights were purchased.  I have a 1939 B that I got a set of weights for, but there is not a peg on the front of the tractor.  Looks like it would be easy rig up, but I would like to know if anyone know what was originally done.

That style of weight wasn't available initially, so a 39 would not have the holes in the front plate from the factory.  Later models have a hole on each side, where a bolt and bushing went through, creating the "peg".  You could certainly modify what you have to mount a set of the weights, if desired.

hmmm...any chance you could weld/fab a 'peg' that slips over/hangs onto the cast part  instead of drilling the hole ? That way the 'correct cops' won't be on your case !
