if you have the corn chaffer top sieve change it out with the small grains chaffer open concave cleance 5/8 -3/4 inch depending on cob size change to corn pulley 20 in dia slow down cylinder speed 250 350 rpm the cob should be rolled out in whole or in half not all cracked up retract fingers in straw chopper ------------- Farm stuff 8050,6690,175,F2,5050,WD |

| Feeder beater must be in the UP position!! Change pulley and belt on the cylinder to 16.5 inch or 20 inch diameters. THIS IS A MUST!! Cylinder speed from 400 to 500 RPM. Raise cylinder to approx. 3/4" clearance. Change to an 1 5/8" corn chaffer. Open the lower sieve quite wide to start. Set fan control to 5 or more. Metal curtain above the raddle remove if it is still in there. Chopper needs to be slowed down or removed. |

Filler bars on the cylinder? I used them in corn and removed for grain on k2 ------------- Allis Chalmers still exist in my mind and barns |

| Filler bars have tendency to crack more corn. Would only use in corn you cant get off the cob. Have seen some like that over the years even at 18%. |

| Filler bars were only intended to be used for WET corn, say anything above 20 or 22%. It made shelling more complete and created less grain damage because the cylinder speed could be set slower and still do a good job of shelling. It also helped promote more whole cobs, which increases the separation/cleaning shoe capacity. It helped some on sidehills by keeping the crop material spread more across the full width of the cylinder. It was NOT ever intended to be left on the cylinder for doing soybeans or any other crop. Only wet or harder shelling corn. |
